With young children, physical activities is a great chance for them to move around and work together with other children.

It’s really imnportant for parents and guardidnas to introduce and intergrate physical exercise into childrens everday life. In doing so – this can create a foundation of movement and coordination that can stay with them for the rest of their lives. This is evident, as it’s well known that young children who are exposed to exercise and acitivites, are often more likely to even after they get to a mature age.

One of the most engaging ways to have children exercise, is through games! Using “play” based activities that will be using their IQ and their current physical attributes. This can be very engaging for the young, as they can use these components to complete the given exercises in ways such as running races, easter eggs hunts, obstacle courses, tests of balance and coordination and even memory games.

These sorts of exercises are of importance to young children, as those who have been kept away from these sorts of activites are most likely to incur minoir injuries when exposing them to them for the very first few times as they age.

The main benefits of exercise at an early age include imporvements in development of balance, strength, and flexibility. These components are neccesary to developing skills in everyday life. Ofcourse fun and regular exercise can help achieve healthy weight goals for adolescents – in particular avoiding child obesity.Regular exercise can ofcourse improve the everyday thinking skills like responsivness and decision making.

And to sum it all up, everyday exercise in the young, can aid in forming healthy sleeping patterns in children, which I think we could all benefit from!

Hey! My name is Mitchell O’Neill and I’m the sole trainer at O’Neill Performance. I first gained a keen interest in sport and fitness at the age of 5, particularly in AFL and athletics. This interest quickly turned into a passion and I’m now dedicated to passing on my knowledge and experience to the younger generation through exercise and sports specific training! The journey began at 5 at my local football oval in country NSW, where I first put on a pair of boots, which then stemmed to trying out athletics at school where I eventually when onto high jump for about 10 years! My speed was then noticed, and I was told I should consider giving sprinting a go - which I did and I’m relieved I did so. I’m now one of the fastest runners in the nation over 100m and 200m. My goal as a certified personal trainer is to pass on my know how, and help clients succeed both short and long term, whether it’s general health and well-being or more sport focussed.
