Our staff members’ favourite family-friendly beaches

In honour of Summer Fun Week that we’re celebrating here at TGA this week, we’ve compiled a list of our staff members’ favourite family-friendly beaches!

Monique Iannello – Assistant Director TGA Mount Annan
Congwong Beach – 1532R Anzac Parade, La Perouse NSW 2036

Likes: no waves, crystal clear water, easy access, public bathrooms, food available nearby

Congwong Beach is located within the Botany Bay National Park and is in the care and control of the National Parks and Wildlife Service. It is a beautiful, calm bay facing Botany Bay. The beach is accessible from the La Perouse Loop Road. Public toilets, shops and other facilities are located nearby.

Dogs, alcohol, and glass bottles are not permitted on the beach area.

The beach is not patrolled by Lifeguards or lifesavers.

Hayley Carrol – Centre Director TGA Wollongong
Fairy Meadow Beach – Elliots Rd, Fairy Meadow

Likes: not busy compared to surrounding beaches, calm waves, easy access, ample parking

Fairy Meadow Beach is a short distance north of Wollongong’s city centre. It is near a playground and the Puckeys Estate Nature Reserve.

Patrolled 9am – 6pm daily

Cassandra Amiradaki – Human Resources Manager TGA Head Office
Clem Morath Rock Pool – Stanton Rd, Balmoral

Likes: shallow, good for exploring, playground, cafes, ample parking

Kayla Hogg – Family Relationship Manager TGA Head Office
Port Kembla Beach – Olympic Boulevard, Port Kembla

Likes: kids pool area, playground, patrolled

The surf club is perched on the high fore dune, overlooking the northern end of Port Kembla Beach, the longest in the Wollongong area at 6.6 kilometres.
The club is complemented by a large car park next door. There is also a large Olympic pool on the northern rocks. The beach is patrolled from the end of September to the end of April.
Port Kembla Beach is not a dog friendly beach however south of the Surf Life Saving Club begins the off lead area for dogs.

Ramsgate Beach – 1 Carruthers Dr, Dolls Point NSW 2219

Likes: BBQ Areas, ample parking, close to food, playground

Thirroul Beach – Cliff Parade, Thirroul NSW

Likes: Patrolled, ample parking, playground, Thirroul Beach Pavillion, rock pools to explore, salt water pool, bbq areas, grassed area for picnics, not too busy.
